About the horror of how parents have COMPLETE control on their kids and the effect it can have.

They "know what its like."

They "understand my frustration."

And "just want what's best for me."

* * *

How many times have I heard this?

Yet I don't believe it.

I can't possibly believe it.

* * *

They rag on my for the little things,

When its not in my control.

"Why'd you let your sister do that?"

* * *

Then forget about the important ones,

When I rely on them for help.

"Oh, here's your ACT packet. Ready to go?"

* * *

How can they possibly know?

How can they possibly understand?

When I'm lost and its my own life.

* * *

I hate this box they've put me in.

They're not allowing me to get hurt,

And not allowing me to learn.

* * *

I'm sheltered and naive.

I don't know about the real world.

I'm ignorant because of their love.

* * *

Sure they want what's best for me.

Sure they want the perfect daughter.

But who says whats best or perfect?

* * *

I'm not like them, or anyone else.

I'm my own person with my own life.

Why can't they just let me live it?
