Charlotte and Jane walked down the road on the way home from school. Charlotte and Jane were the best of friends since Kindergarten and did everything together, seeing as they were neighbors. Charlotte was an obsessive athlete with black curls that stopped right above where her rib-cage ended and gorgeous blue eyes, whereas Jane was an insane brainiac with waist-length, mysteriously perfect brown hair that was as straight as a pencil, and brown eyes. As they walked home from school on that night in August they were talking about a murderer. who was on the loose in a nearby town and was said to be spotted in the graveyard in their town of Stalom. When they got to 53 Pine Street they went their separate ways for Charlotte lived on 53 pine and Jane lived on 55 Pine. The two 14 year-olds expressed their fear of the murderer to their parents who waved it off and said they would be fine.

The next day the girls went to school prepared for anything that was thrown at them. When they got to 1st hour they discovered that they had a new student in their homeroom. The girls had always liked new student’s because they liked to make new friends, so they decided to ask the new girl, Emily, if she wanted to sit with them at lunch. Emily was an extremely pretty girl with red hair that went just below her heart and incredibly bright green eyes. At lunch the girls also discovered that she was very kind-hearted and ultimately a great person. They also found that she was an orphan with a father who abandoned her and left her in a horrible position. When Emily refused to continue speaking of the matter the girls didn't press. As the next few months went on the girls grew very fond of Emily to the point that they were very much considered a trio. Then in January Emily was walking as usual with Jane and Charlotte, for she lived only a few blocks away from them. After Jane and Charlotte had parted with Emily she continued walking towards the orphanage where she lived. When she was within about 7 meters to the orphanage she heard a horrifying scream. Emily bolted to the orphanage. Once inside she found the women looking after the orphans, Mrs.Hayfen, lying on the ground drenched in blood. She also found a man staring at her with bright green eyes and red hair holding a knife. The man lunged at her and everything went dark.

Charlotte Silverton and Jane Sharm went to Emily Graline's funeral to weeks after her death. They cried and screamed when they found out she was murdered. The girls, while scared, desperately wanted to know who had killed Emily. The day of her funeral they discovered who it had been from the police. As it turns out the murderer who had been loose was Emily's father. Yet they could not figure out why he had killed her. Charlotte and Jane decided to research it themselves and they did for weeks and found nothing. One cold February day the girls didn't return home and the mothers called the police to do a full-scale investigation. Unfortunately by that time the girls had already been kidnapped and taken to Guttenberg, a near-by town. The girls had not yet found out who their kidnappers were, but they had an idea. It was soon discovered that there hypothesis was correct, for they had been kidnapped by Charles Graline, Emily's father. Charles told them why he had kidnapped him though. He told them that just 14 and a half years ago his wife had had a baby girl . Having this baby girl caused her to lose a lot of blood and two days later she died. The man did not want the child for he did not want any reminders of her wife or the child. As time went on he realized that it was the child’s fault that his wife had died and he wanted revenge. He had stalked Emily for weeks and therefore had stalked them. He wanted to kill Emily and anyone who had spoken to her or had a care for her so that he may truly have been rid of that wretched child. All though as he spoke he was so caught up in emotion that he did not notice the girls whipping out their phones and calling the police who tracked them there and by the end of his story were surrounding the building. He whipped out his knife and as he did so he told them that it was the same knife he had used to kill Emily. While mocking them and debating who to kill first the police burst in and shot him. During all the commotion they released the girls and took them home as well as decided what should be done with the remains of the horrid man. The story evidently ended up in the paper and for years the girls had nightmares but eventually everything went back to normal except for memorials day, when every year the girls and their families went to Emily Graline's grave.
