BLOCK THIS! The School has taken over everything!

Article By: Jenalie Stanson

Who in their right mind likes to be told when to eat? When to walk? When to talk? When to leave? What they can or cannot listen to? What you can't wear? What you can't access the computers at school for? Who likes that?

Help! The School’s taken control over everything on the net!!!!!

So a new school year has started. I log onto my computer, I go to the internet, stretch and crack my fingers and type in my favorite email site, hotmail.com.

…BLOCKED!

I go to Yahoo.com.

…BLOCKED!

I go to Gmail.com.

…BLOCKED!

I go to all my favorite blog sites.

…BLOCKED!

I come here to Booksie and it’s still here. So now I’m completely lost for what to do. My parents are extremely strict at home and I rarely get to use the computer there. Plus the home computer has a virus. And I’m never allowed to call my friends, so I used email to text them, seeming as I don’t have a cell phone.

So I’m completely lost and friendless. But it makes me wonder, isn’t it wrong for the school system to block things of this nature? I understand blocking porn for sick freaks that are sometimes around and games, but shouldn’t we at least be allowed to communicate with the outside world? Shouldn’t Myspace, Facebook, Myyearbook, Twitter—any site of this nature be allowed? How are we as American Students—supposedly protected by the Bill of Rights and the Declaration of Independence—being shown to be responsible when we are forced no other choice? How do we learn from others when we are made to do the same thing over and over again and are blocked from the outside world? Some of us—like me—aren’t blessed with a computer of their own. Some people are too poor for computers or have parents who dislike them using it.

So this leaves me with two things left to say:

Where can I find a place to talk to my friends and to get them to talk to me there?

BLOCK THIS!
