My weekly top 10 (20): (may 11 – 17, 2008)
-
1. BROOKE GROSS – the silver band
2. VAHNDELFIRE – why mommy why
3. MIDRIFFKITTY – enter my mind
4. GHIRADELLI GIRL – jack frost
5. PREPPRINCESS – beautiful new life
6. SAIF WASIULLAH – titles of chapters of holy quran (I-VI)
7. ALICE OISEAU – the day the music died
8. MICHAEL68 – the haunting
9. MURDEROUSSWEETTART – grotesque soul
10. MOGGIEDOG – Africa the other side
-
Top reviewers – STEVE RITTER, MICHAEL CHRISTOPHER
-
BROOKE GROSS – She is a regular girl, writing regular stuff. A heart-warming story, “The silver band” stresses on forgiveness (a quality people appreciate but hardly ever find). Ami is soon to be wedded to Brice but a week before wedding, Brice decides otherwise. What will Ami do, will they ever meet. Will she forgive, rather forget Brice.
-
VAHNDELFIRE – Cody Brown for you and me. Just 19, his writing shows maturity that will find him huge readership. “Why mommy why” may not be a mother’s day gift, but one can reflect on what mothers are capable of doing. It starts well and you suspect the father but father is the ultimate victim. Read on
-
MIDRIFFKITTY – (Wow! What a name!) What happens when you want to share your innermost feelings. You lay bare your heart and also your soul. And the reader gets to see the raw core. By no means, it’s a raw deal. And Madame M’s “Enter my mind” tells us a tale of gritty survival. (Don’t mix it up with Survivor on TV). Enjoy it for what it offers.
-
GHIRADELLI GIRL – Only 14 and bursting with youthful enthusiasm. A familiar name with an amazing writing portfolio. We should look at the world from her eyes. And “jack frost” becomes a reality. A season ends and another is born. Should we grieve about the gone or welcome the new with open arms. Worth a find.
-
PREPPRINCESS – My understanding of religion is it is personal. I don’t discuss religion and politics. But this week Prep and Saif (sort of) changed my perception. “Beautiful new life” tells us about spring, a season of change, just like Jesus gave up his life to bring a change for us. This one is truly a gift.
-
SAIF WASIULLAH – He had asked me to comment on his poem, “Titles of chapters of holy quran (I – VI)”. I was apprehensive. One must have mastery over language to achieve what he has done. It is poetry in motion. It is not a religious text but literary craftsmanship, not easily achieved. And rhyming is incredible. 2 poets – 2 religions – 2 perspectives – INTERESTING
-
ALICE OISEAU – Here is Alice and she too needs no introduction. She may not consider herself to be writing well. And she comes up with “the day the music died”. This doesn’t seem like fiction – it is like a page out of her personal diary. If she considered Kevin, her friend, to be music, lot of us will miss him at the end of this touching tale.
-
MICHAEL68 – Well, well, Mikey is simple, straightforward and hugely likable guy. Some people are made that way. It’s a way of life with him. And so I didn’t expect “Haunting” from him. But then you never know what a writer can do the next moment and what is going on in his mind. This one gave me goose pimples.
-
MURDEROUSSWEETTART – Beware! She is murderous, she is sweet and she is a.… I was reflecting after reading her “Grotesque soul”. The world classifies us - good, bad or ugly. People make our lives difficult with their negative or destructive opinions. So should we follow what we like or be “classified”. Madame M, although hurt, decides for herself.
-
MOGGIEDOG – SHE IS MY 200th AUTHOR TO WRITE ABOUT. I haven’t been to South Africa, except on Internet. But Moggiedog’s “Africa - the other side” shows us a side that may turn away the tourists. But Moggiedog says, to hell with that. She wants to have her way. She wants to hit where it hurts. So it’s a read from start to finish. South Africa, from Moggiedog’s pen.
-----
Top reviewers - STEVE RITTER, MICHAEL CHRISTOPHER – Soon you will get to know them better. When they comment, you know that this is what your work deserves. Most of the time you will end up loving their comments more than your own work.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
(US elections are a few months away. We can enjoy a few jokes until then. Rest as we all know, after elections, we will be back to crying until another election dawns.)
-
A few days after George W. Bush's win, a man came up to the uniformed Marine on duty at the White House and said, "I'd like to see President Clinton.”
The Marine, "Sir, Mr. Clinton is no longer president."
The man said, "Oh, OK" and walked away.
-
The next day the Marine was again on duty and the same man approached and again asked to see President Clinton.
The Marine again answered, "Sir, Mr. Clinton is no longer president."
Again the man answered, "Oh, OK" and walked away.
-
Next day the same man approached the same Marine and again asked to see President Clinton.
Marine is annoyed, "Sir, I've told u, Mr. Clinton is no longer president. Don't u understand that?"
"Yes, I do", said the man, "But I just enjoy hearing it."
The Marine smiled and said, "See you again tomorrow."

until next week...CHEERS!... and lots of luv and kisses...and...and...(I said SHUT UP!!!)

Booooooo! There are no brilliant writers here, and I work hard every week, and I still don't get reviewed! This sucks! It's favouritism!...eh?

I love the idea of a weekly top ten. It gives us all the chance to read some great work that we may otherwise never get the chance too. I'll definately be chiking this out every week;)

hi! steph. thanx. this is just to encourage new and lesser known writers along with established ones. could u let me know what new can i write about the established ones, which the reader doesn't know already. ;-)

Although I love Steph dearly, I have to disagree and say to you go fuck yourself as your list is bullshit and narrow minded as you only look for shit that entertains you. One dimensional donkey brain motherfucker. Eat shit and die insect.

u r drunk when u wrote this. when u become sober, remember, ur chapter is over on my page. period.

Eric. Don't ever write to me again. You have crossed all limits of profanities and decency on a public platform where children and others read commonly. I had earlier warned you politely. But you are making a mess on someone's page, that'll embarass a lot. I don't know what you think of yourself, just go to hell. Don't visit our pages again. Be careful.

Eric came here searching for his sex fix but was fixed. His language is cheap and avoidable.

My daughter a teenager is on booksie. This guy uses obscene language 'you are hot you are hot' and was writing suggestive things to her. I gave him a sound thrashing. Now I find he's repeating it here in another way. He should be banned from booksie. He's no good for children.

This guy is sick in head. He needs to seek medical advice immediately. Rather admit him to a mental hospital.
