My weekly top 10 (9): (june 15 – 21, 2008)
-
1. xxSECRETxx – I love you x!
2. BRADTRUSCOTT – untitled – chapter 1
3. IMAJESUSFREAK- what i think about animal abuse
4. ASHEN – eternal and forever
5. LEANNE – lady st. claire
6. URJA – sacred blasphemy
7. ALLYDEE – pulled back
8. ANGELGIRL – so these are the seasons
9. TISHA666 – the pain you put me through
10. DEZBEE – difficulties of passing the state test (and how I did it)
-
xxSECRETxx – She is Beth, she is 11, and she is roaring to go (on the poetry scene.) And we wouldn’t have thought an 11-year old knowing all about love. But she says, “I do”. (no marriage vow this!) In the poem, “I love you x!”, she expresses her deep love for someone, that keeps increasing with each passing day. Excuse me…kiddo love…!
-
BRADTRUSCOTT – This is a Father’s Day gift. Teen pregnancy makes girls drop out of school and be stroller pushers. Brad in his book, “untitled – chapter 1”, delves on this aspect through Cotie Cuvier, a pregnant teen. The situation must be pretty grim for a boy to raise the issue. As he says, it takes two to tango. A comment on current situation.
-
IMAJESUSFREAK – We read about human abuse everyday. And of course there are animal rights and its many activists. Despite all efforts, still cruelty to animals continues. Iamajesusfreak takes up this issue heads on in her poem, “what i think about animal abuse”. She says the solution lies with her and you! Think, do, do, do. Thoughful.
-
ASHEN – When one is in love, there is eternal hope that all things will turn out positive and as we want them to. For love is ever hopeful and ticking. Ashen in her poem, “eternal and forever” brings out this aspect of love. She knows the road to love is tough and many difficulties are there. But she is not lonely as she has found her savior. Wow.
-
LEANNE – Well, well. We are reading scores of poems and one different from the other. Leanne comes up with a ballad, “lady st. claire”. And a very interesting story emerges. A Chinese emperor's only son is dead. He needs an heir.So he wishes to marry the right maiden. He searches far and wide until he finds his match - Lady St. Claire. Lovely.
-
URJA – Hmm. Ever since Darwin and his theory of evolution, there has been a constant debate between scientists and theologians about creation (God’s natural one or human’s man-made). And to this day it goes on. Urja’s poem “sacred blasphemy” tries to answer this. Man has tasted the forbidden fruit and where will it all end – man being God! Divine
-
ALLYDEE – There are times when we don’t want to do something but still go ahead doing it. And why is that – your guess is as good as mine. In Ally’s poem “pulled back” we come across this aspect in a large measure. She is trying hard to escape from love’s clutches but it is beyond her control. The cupid has struck and…don’t ask me any more.
-
ANGELGIRL – My, my. There are some poems you feel like reading again and again and again. This is one such. Many poets have written about seasons- spring, summer, fall (autumn) and winter. Angel’s “so these are the seasons” presents a four-in-one colourful treat. This one will tickle your heart for it is four poems rolled into one. Endearing.
-
TISHA666 – What do you do when your love has been spurned. You want to take revenge for the feeling forgiveness gets erased from your heart’s dictionary. In Tisha’s “the pain you put me through” we come across a girl, whose heart has been broken for no good reason. The end leaves you stunned. Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned!
-
DEZBEE – Recently I wrote competitive exams for CRA to improve my job prospects. They were tough and time was short. But now there is relief. Dezbee in her essay, “difficulties of passing the state test (and how I did it)” delves on how she went through trials and tribulations of a tough Florida test. She calls it PERSEVERANCE!
-
(At long last, the race for US presidential election is evincing some interest. Now there are only two hopefuls. In the meanwhile, let’s share a good laughter.)
-
A seedy-looking man was sitting in the first row at an election meeting, heckling the presidential hopeful as he delivered a lengthy speech. Finally the hopeful pointed to the heckler and said, "Will that gentleman who differs with me please stand up and tell the audience what he has ever done for the good of the city?" "Well, Mr. Candidate," the man said in a firm voice, "I voted against you in the last election."
-
until next week...CHEERS!... and lots of luv and kisses...and...and...(I said SHUT UP!!!)
-
ciao

Canadian. Did you know, "Bubbly" is a pop–folk-pop–acoustic song written by American singer-songwriter Colbie Caillat and Jason Reeves for Caillat's debut album, Coco (2007).

Three cheers.

Eric. I can only pity you. If Bubbly knows to clap, you know to slap. If she can cheer, you can only jeer. So, now do you know your place.
