Cameroon is involved in the Olympics, so my first international matches with them are at the Beijing Olympics. They are in Group D, along with South Korea, Italy and Honduras.

With only the English Premier League loaded, players are always going to be hard to come by. But I still managed to cobble 18 players to form up my U-23 squad. I also included left back Benoit Assou-Ekotto as one of my overaged players, just to annoy Spurs. alt

My first game in China would be against South Korea. They too have trouble forming their squad, so they have a team full of grey players. It was predicted to be a tight game.

And it was. Both teams on limited resources struggled to dominate the game. We both had players go off injured within five minutes, which didn't help our cause at all. Midfielder Stephane M'bia from Rennes the poor sod who had his game cut short.

The first half ended up goalless, and the second half kicked off pretty much the same way. On the hour mark, the Koreans had another player limp off injured. I also had Andre Bikey pick up a knock shortly after. Our squads were being decimated...

Just when it looked like it was going to end in a stalemate, we fashioned a counter attack which ended with Haman Sadjo (the only Cameroonian left winger in the entire game) finishing off a lovely cross from striker Leonard Kweuke. Get in!

Three minutes later though, disaster struck. Young Monaco defender Nicolas N'Koulou was inexplicably sent off for what looked like an innocuous challenge (it looked like that to me anyway). That left me very short on numbers and an uphill challenge ahead.

Nevertheless, the 10 men of Cameroon managed to hold on to their lead and grab the win. The assistant manager mentioned that the team would die for each other. I can certainly see that here.

One more thing. The Koreans finished the match with yet another man off injured, three minutes into injury time...

Final score, Cameroon U-23 1 South Korea U-23 0
