Chapter 2: At The Mall
Casey brushed his long wavy hair out of his eyes. His hair wasn’t too long, just long enough that all his friends think he is part of The Beatles. Casey peddled faster, anxious to get to the mall. He hasn’t seen Sarah in a week, and frankly that was to long. Casey parked his bike on the bike rack, grabbed his brown backpack, and headed for the mall entrance.
Once inside he took the escalator up a level, and turned right to the food court. In the food court was the coffee shop. He sat at the table the gang always sat at, in the chair Casey always sat in. in case you haven’t noticed, there all very indifferent in there routine.
Again Johnny and Tyler talked on about the same thing they always talked about. Casey zoned out starring at the beauty coming up the escalator. Her forest green eyes, made you feel warm in the coldest of climate. Her dark brown hair, light enough to tell it wasn’t black, but dark enough to envy it. It was a dark chocolate color that almost made your mouth water. Her body was thin, but not tiny. Her perfectly formed lips, luscious but not huge. She had the simplest of names, Sarah.
Casey awoke from his daze when she walked over to Casey and said, “Hi”. Casey stood up and gave her the traditional hug. “I haven’t seen you in to long.”
“It’s only been a week,” Casey said almost choking. He knew he couldn’t last one more day without seeing her, but he wondered if she felt the same. Casey always had a secret wish that she had a crush on him, but deep down he knew she didn’t.
Sarah gave Tyler a quick hug, then walked over to Johnny and gave him a peck on the lips. Casey envied him so much. Every time he sees them kiss, he felt like he died a little inside. Casey felt so pathetic; he just wanted to get away.
“So Johnny tells me that you and him are going on a trip,” Tyler said to Sarah.
“Ya my parents are taking us to California,” Sarah responded.
Casey couldn’t take it, he stood up and said, “I’m ganna go to the…uh.” He said the first thing that came to mind, “Rest…get some dippin-dots.” He walked off.
Casey came to the dippin-dots stand. He got his food and paid. He turned and saw a middle-aged woman running franticly. Then she yelled, “Has anyone seen my son, he’s run off.” Casey had an idea if he left his town, even the state that would give him the thing missing in his life. If he ran away, he wouldn’t worry about wanting Sarah, his everyday routine, and his boring life.
Casey turned back to the food court. Sarah was standing there, “Um, a minute ago that was kinda weird. What’s wrong?”
Casey responded, “Truthfully?” Sarah nodded. “I think Johnny is a dick, all he talked about was how he wanted to have sex with you.”
“What…”ah was speechless?
Casey already went this far; why not go all the way. “I like, no wait, I love you.” Casey grabbed her and pulled he close and pressed his lips against heir’s. Then he broke the kiss, “You go on your vacation, and when you get back, I won’t be here.”
“What are…”
“I’m leaving, and I don’t know when I’ll get back. I just wanted you to know before I go, how I felt. I will miss you, I just am missing something in my boring life.”
Casey saw Johnny storming over; he must of seen Casey kiss Sarah, and was now pissed. He said, “You got some nerve you…” Casey cocked back his hand and punched him square in the nose.
“Shut the hell up,” Casey said shacking his hand.
“What are you doing,” Sarah said checking to see if Johnny was all right.
“I’m living,” Casey said as he walked off. He was really ganna do this, no turning back now
