A POEM TO A FALLEN SOLDIER
Forty Years have passed
since you went away to war.
Forty years have passed
since saw your face no more.
So many years since you and I
made memories meant to last;
until you returned to me and
in front of God; we would ask,
his blessing on our union;
tomake us man and wife.
News came I most feared;
telling me my love was dead.
My heart broken into pieces;
“Wasn’t meant to be, “they said.
But you remained my first love;
I love you just as much today.
Our love was certain meant to be,
no matter what the other’s say.
Though we didn’t get the time
to make our dreams come true;
I’ve kept memories made to last;
and held on to them for you.
Forty years have passed
since you want away to war.
Forty years have passed
since saw your face no more.
No longer do Iask “what if”;
or wish to change painful past;
enough for me to know
our love was felt; in time is cast.
Forty years have passed
since you want away to war.
Forty years have passed
since saw your face no more.
