One of my first poems, written in Middle School.
I used to be very proud of this poem, but as I reread it now, there are a few issues I see with it, that I would change.

If I have the time, maybe I'll revise it and post it as a separate post.

I am the earth.

I have witnessed more than
Anyone could imagine.

I feel the pounding,
Tapping, stomping and pattering
Of creatures graciously going from place to place.

I have witnessed the birth of
The first Man and Woman,
And their children, and their children's children,
And I will witness many more to come.

I am round,
Once thought to be flat.

I have witnessed many discoveries and inventions,
From the discovery of fire to...
...Today's discovery of cloning.

I've felt the happiness of reunions
And the sorrow of deaths.

The happiness of marriage
to the pain of war.

I was the first to come,
And will be the last to leave.
