The Circle of ATP

By: jp23

Page 1, In case you\'re wondering what kind of nerd would take the lyrics of a popular Disney song and replace the words to make the song about cellular respiration, I\'m him. This is what happened when I got bored with making a notecard for a Biology test. NERD PRIDE!!!!! (See what I did there? Pride, like a lion pride) Giving credit where credit is due: The poem/song is written to the beat of Disney\'s The Lion King\'s

From the day your cells divided in two,
A catabolic process ran;
There's more to be seen than can ever be seen,
More than a standard microscope can.

Glycolysis takes two ATP
Don’t fret, you'll get four back.
To more of it yield, an O you must now wield
To produce even more energy!

An ATP cycle,

Products endergonic,
And it moves our cells
To work properly;
Making reactions
Using their ATP
From the process

of respiration.

Glycolysis makes two pyruvate,
Two NADH per glucose.
Then the Oxygen that breathing spawns

Go into mitochondrion.
Aerobic respiration starts,
Pyruvate to acetyl CoA.
In the cycle of Krebs

the Citrate's carbon ebbs:
2 ATP, e- carriers made

Then to the ETC
Go the e- carriers:
Transf'ring electrons
To make gradients.
ATP synthase
Churns thirty two ATP
In the process
of respiration.

An ATP cycle,
And it moves our cells
To work properly
To keep our cells well,
Using their energy, yea
From the process

of respiration.

Using their energy, yea
From the process

of respiration
