What's Broken

By

Lacey Ann A Bromfield

I was his favourite

No one could abuse a delicate flower like me

He was the one to serve as a witness to my birth

Then chad along a journey to the registration office

He was my guardian

He was my help

He was the one that told me about Celt

And so I grew as his admirer

I became his defense minister

When mother and siblings wanted him dead

I loved him instead

I felt his pain

I prayed for him in the rain

I was thankful

Because he gave no less than a handful

He was the best caregiver

For me he would have donated his liver

"But suddenly he changed"

Just before he got engaged

His angry spirit pushed everyone away

If he didn't have a woman people would say he was gay

Still I planned to repay him

But not just by buying a bottle of Gin

I loved him to death

Often times about his health I fret

Sometimes he appeared as an invincible lion

I had to stand face to face with him like a stallion

On a calm Thursday night, he expressed a peculiar hostility towards me

That's when I had to flee

It was then over

Even though we came from the same mother.
