This poem is about a girl going through tough times as a teenager. I wrote it because I understand what it's like to be depressed and not feel good enough.

Skin like ice, heart of gold
Beaten, bullied, does what she's told
Comes home from school
with tears plastered on her face making her
feel like she's a worthless waste

Locks her room door
Throws herself onto the floor
There's no one who can help me
picking up the hidden piece of sharp metal
Delicately touching her skin

You cannot let them win
This is her escape, her safe haven
Her mind clouding over with relief, the
blood dripping no longer feeling
no more grief

drip, drip, drip, drip, drip

Tilting her head back letting the blade
do it's non-permanent work
She imagines herself happy and
the tears begin to stream

What am I doing to myself why is
the world so mean
She was becoming a warrior, a fighter
being the best she could be
But to others she was nothing but
an empty white shell

As her parents beat her she screams
and whimpers "Go to hell"
Starving for perfection she skips every meal
Her death is near and it brings her to peace
She won't have to suffer anymore at least
Years have passed and she's alive and
well healed and happy with
no suffering and no more cries for help
