Sometimes, life can be scary.
Sometimes, you have to roll with the punches.
And sometimes, the punches lay you flat on your ass and it takes an amount of time to recover. You fall without grace, but there is a guiding hand to lift you back up and help you walk again.
This is the beginning of the end of my last small tour with this band. And, for the first time, I have no words at my mercy. In fact, I hardly know what to say.
Moving on is arduous, and it takes strength and will power to press forward and yet, we all must do it at some point in time. It’s when the elephant in the room shows itself that the ice finally breaks and the tears flow freely. There’s still excitement ahead, but it’s all informed by looming, significant change; the starting of a new chapter. There’s that moment when you wake up and realize with near anguish, whether you like it or not, that the last chapter, the one you’re living in now, is nearly over, and your life is about to become very jarred. Events occurring now become memory, which you will eventually refer to—somewhat wearily at the start—in the past tense. Reminiscent things that may or may not have happened to you. And suddenly, the phrase, “when I was a kid” or even, “when I was younger,” become all too real. You don’t want to face the fact that maybe, you have grown up. Time graciously pardons whatever teenage angst remains still brewing in your system. Talking about the future is no longer as theoretical as it once was; you’re living in it!
I am eager to begin this next chapter of my life, just for the sake of seeing what it holds for me, and I am reluctant for this one to end. There are many things that I will miss, and others that I certainly will not. But, I’m ready for the change.
After four years at Barrage University, I’m ready for graduation, and I have another one looming. I am only 16 years old, and the rest of high school awaits!
Only 3 more shows left for me. And this one’s for you. From me.
Here we go!
