Let’s start from the beginning. Music.
I’m sick of people who sell their songs with boobs and booty. Its not just the young girls and women that do that. Its almost what each Rap musician does, sell its songs with girls who dance almost naked. Sometimes, I see a female singer, practically naked, singing god knows what, and my friend says “Its cool, what!? It’s a good song!?” Yeah, it’s a good porn movie. That girl didn’t even know how to sing. By the way, there are loads of those like her where I live. Also, there’s one male singer that always has some “hot babe” dancing and shaking next to him, and all of his songs are junk, but people watch and listen to them because of the naked next to him.
Next important thing is… Games.
I’ve just read in the newspapers that a kid from Taiwan or something (not sure), 18 years old, killed taxi driver and stole his car. He admitted that it’s because he tried to do what the guy from the game did (and that game is GTA). He is now waiting for death penalty. How sick is that? To kill a man that probably had a family over nothing, and after that die yourself, just because a man in the game did it.
Third, Commercials and Products.
I’ve read a article somewhere on the net about Coca Cola and the number of substances that cause cancer they’ve put in it. The list is ridicules. We also have all kinds of commercials on TV, some selling product so retarded, unnecessary and/or unhealthy that’s its beyond anything. And the shit load of numbers that they throw at as. And the naked singers the TV puts on.
Forth, Human Recklessness.
This one is the most important. The pollution level is huge and it’s going to destroy us. And in my opinion, we can’t even stop it anymore. Its not a question of how anymore, its when. When will nature finally strike back and punish all the innocent and not innocent. The day will come, and it won’t be amazing. And we deserve it. The amount of improperly disposed junk, the number of tress cut down, the number of animals killed for luxury, the number of endangered animals and plants. When those endangered creatures are gone, even one of them, it will unbalance the whole chain and lead to disappearing of many more related animals/plants.
How much of it I, we can take it? I don’t know. How long will nature take our crap? Not for long.
I can agree with most things, though, I've always been the devil's advocate. While I believe you're right, I want to offer the dark perspective on those issues. Don't read them if you don't wish to. Firstly however, I want to comment you on a well written article. Now, onto the points:
Music
Now, let's consider the idea behind what music really is. Here, we're talking about music videos, probably like the ones that appear on channels like Much Music. This is what I like to call, the entertainment industry. Their job, is to simply entertain folks. In the past, we had court jesters and prostitutes, now, we have videos and various things of the same sort. To the average human, what you describe, is quite entertaining. Their music sucks to hell, so they need to give a boost to make money. Thus, they add a second aspect, to reduce the impact on the lower quality areas. Thus, by that angle, the action is logical. I personally hate rap, and believe they shouldn't be showing that imagery where younger eyes can see it.
Games
Welcome to the world of blame. I've heard this story, but here's where I get into a position most people dislike. I agree, that games like GTA shouldn't be made. They serve no purpose, and contribute nothing to society. However, if someone wants to input the time and money to make and sell such a thing, hats off to them. If a child can't recognize the difference between reality and fantasy, he needs psychological help. Imagine if he read The Telltale Heart, or Lord of the Flies. He could end up becoming a serial killer slaughtering folks because they had a funny eye, or because it was "the monster". One can't put blame on a video game because it was in the hands of a mentally depraved person. That's like blaming a knife manufacturer when someone stabs another with their product. It simply doesn't work that way. We're responsible for ourselves and those we take care of, end of story.
Commercials and Products
Welcome to capitalism. It's one of the most resource hungry types of market in the world (Though that could be argued), as you end up getting things like bags of chips, that are twice as big as the quantity within. Why? Because there's two kinds of people in this world who can have the most money milked from them. The stupid, and the lazy. Welcome to humanity now. Our whole society is based on competition. Sometimes, you need to play dirty to get ahead. The way western society is built, people are fueled by greed. It's tough to lay blame on someone when, according to the world they live, they're doing everything completely correctly.
Human Recklessness
I agree completely with you. That said, I'm keeping my laptop iPod and other electrical gadgets. Sorry trees, I like my interior lighting.
Anyways, don't take this as a stab. It's just teaching, and hoping to expand the mind to some aspects you may not have caught. I'm not arguing, as I myself have contradicted each of these statements to further my angle towards yours, but you get the idea. Keep developing, and when you think you can't be proven wrong, prove yourself wrong, then do it again. Eventually, you'll hit the end. I can't tell you what's there, as I'm barely there myself.
