Comments Please 4: Conclusion
Conclusion, based on the limited responses received
Question 1
Nothing is conclusive
Question 2
The general consensus is that a star rating system is not desired.
That is not to say it should not be available as an option for those a star rating appeals.
I believe that there are two things we need to achieve
- To keep the basic framework of Booksie as it is so that its existing form is not changed. It is clear that the majority of members I have conversed with like the format and what it does.
- Make changes optional and as broad as possible to give tools to writers and readers to have Booksie more personal for their needs.
I AM CONERNED THAT CHANGES WE PUSH FOR DESINGAGES MEMBERS WHO ARE HAPPY WITH THE CURRENT SITE. I WOULD NOT WANT TO SEE ANY CHANGES THAT PUSH EXISTING MEMBERS WAY AND WOULD NOT SUPPORT THOSE CHANGES.
With the above statement in mind any changes made should be COMPLETELY option. Drop downs that can be activated by ticking a box. The default should be if left un-ticked then comments are as they are now. But with the ability to continue a thread of comments after the initial ‘comment and reply’
I propose the following
Directly below the Summary box are two boxes that activate a grey’d out options lists.
Tick Box 1
If selected then the options are activated and the appropriate statement is presented below that tick box. Along with and advisory note to the review regarding commenting
Tick Box 2
Would activate a star rating option
Below is an attempt to present how I think the layout would look. (Excuse my basic effort)
