Literature and Political Regimes
Literature throughout the time had complex relationship with politics and economics. In fact, the effectiveness of these environments looks clear since we know that regimes do their best to keep themselves as the superhero of their nations especially of those totalitarian systems. One of the best examples is the Marxism which emerged at the end of the 18th century .Marx who was one of the pillars of this system "argues that the way we think and the way we experience the world around us are either wholly or largely conditioned by the way the economy is organized"(1). In fact, whether this theory or any other theory was right or wrong, we note they try to impose themselves and colour every thing with their opinions. It seems to me literary works that are written underneath these dogmatic systems could be yellow pages which are written either to support these systems or to escape from them. Or on the other hand they could be brilliant ones since they are written to uncover these systems as the great novel The Animal Farm by George Orwell.
