The conflict of how human beings came to exist has been a topic since the dawn
of time. Some people believe that we were the product of a divine being that created the
earth and all of its creatures. This is known as religion, and each different religion is the
same basic idea with different adaptations. The theory of evolution is that mankind
descended from primates. This is based on the fact that humans and chimpanzees are
close relatives, our DNA sequences are 96% the same as chimpanzees. Evolution didn't
come to be an idea until after the nineteenth century when the scientist Charles Darwin
first revealed his theory on natural selection. Darwin was made a laughingstock
by the media and science communities at the time but his theories are still believed and
modified to this day. Before Darwin most or all people believed in a god and
regularly went to church. During the Dark Ages God was all that people living in poverty
had. It wasn't until the Renaissance that people started thinking about science and the
mysteries of life. The estimated number of religions in the world is about four thousand
and two hundred. There may be even more that have yet to be discovered.
Dutko, Bob. "Evidence for Creation vs. Evolution - Top Ten Proofs." Christian Apologetics Made Simple - Top Ten Proofs. Bob Dutko, 13 Sept. 1999. Web. 10 Jan. 2011. <http://toptenproofs.com/article_evolution.php>.
These days some people completely opt out of going to church or trying to
introduce their children to religion simply because it is a hassle. Many people do still go
to church though, and there are people who never go to church but still have faith. It is a
difficult decision whether or not your children should go to church or believe what you
believe because they should have the freedom to decide for themselves. A lot of people
bring their children up to believe what they believe because they have no choice in the
matter due to the seriousness of the religion they are involved in. It should be the child's
choice whether or not they follow a religion. Although religion promotes morals, to a
child the lessons that the bible or other source teaches can be very difficult to understand
and learn a lesson from.
The teaching of evolution in schools is a wise choice because it allows students to
learn what it is and decide whether or not to believe in it. Some students fully embrace
the idea and the teaching of evolution greatly helps students choose their faith. In this
modern age, it is easy to become educated about evolution by seeing documentaries on
television or looking it up online or reading about it. It is just as easy to become educated
about religion. Knowing this, 40% of people in America still believe in creationism.
11.9% of the world is non-religious or agnostic. This doesn't make any sense when you
compare that there is no proof of creationism while there is so much evidence of
evolution. You would think that people would be more practical, but the truth is that
people still believe the same things people did in the Dark Ages. Americans aren't
necessarily stupid, but they are ignorant and stubborn about educating themselves on the
topic of evolution.
Lebo, -. Lauri. "40% of Americans Still Believe in Creationism." Religion Dispatches. Lauri Lebo, 10Jan.2011.Web.<http://www.religiondispatches.org/dispatches/laurilebo/3952/40%25_of_americans_still_believe_in_creationism/>.
Although there is "proof" for evolution, it is still a theory, as is religion. The
fossils discovered of human ancestors are the "proof" for evolution, while there is no
solid proof for creationism but the stories told in the Bible and other religious texts. The
Bible is a story. Evolution is a scientific theory. How do we know that the Bible was not
intended to be a guide to religion? The Bible contradicts itself many times and the stories
told in it are fantasies. The Bible was written so long ago that it could have been changed
numerous times. Evolution's theory also changes, but that is only because we are finding
out more and more about it each day.
The Oxford Concise Science Dictionary defines evolution as "The gradual
process by which the present diversity of plant and animal life arose from the earliest
and most primitive organisms, which is believed to have been continuing for the past
3000 million years." (Moran) According to evolutionary theory, humans evolved from
the earliest form of life: Eubacteria and Archaebacteria. All life evolved from this
common ancestor. These bacteria formed 3.5 billion years ago and became what is life
on earth today by natural selection and adaptations. The earliest human ancestor is
known as Ardipithecus ramidus. The remains were found in Ethiopia's Afar Desert. This
newly discovered ancestor lived 4.4 million years ago. The structure of the bones of this
ape-like creature shares the likeness of modern human bones. This is one of the proving
factors of evolution that supports the theory. According to the Bible, God created
heaven and the earth then animals and man. The only proof we have of God is the
question of how the universe and the earth came to exist. If God were real, wouldn't he
have showed himself by now? If he is real, can humans even see him? "God" is an
intangible fantasy being that has never been seen before except by religious fanatics. We
can clearly see the bones of our ancestors and cannot ignore the similarity between theirs
and ours.

Religion may be a good system of morals, but it is also a brainwash and a clear
denial of evolution. A sensible person could look at religion and the theory of evolution
and after seeing that there is no proof of God, would choose evolution. Surprisingly, that
isn't the case. People continue to believe in something they have no proof is real. If
it is true that God isn't real; millions of people have wasted their lives trying to get into
heaven when we could simply decay into the ground and not even have a soul. Nobody
knows exactly what happens when we die, and those that have near-death experiences
didn't actually die, if they did they wouldn't be talking about it. There are so many
disproving facts about God, that just thinking about all of the people wasting their lives
worshipping nothing suddenly becomes very sad. For example, the Bible describes a
world-wide flood that covered the whole earth and killed everything, and yet there is no
archeological record of that ever happening. If God did do that, wouldn't he be a mass
murderer? God would be killing his own children, becoming even worse than Hitler.
God is said to be so intelligent, why didn't he prevent humans from sinning the moment
he created them? How can Christians believe in this God of torture? God punished Eve
by making childbirth for all women painful, how is this a kind and loving God? In Mark
16:17-18 Jesus says "And these signs will accompany those who believe: In my name
they will drive out demons; they will speak in new tongues; they will pick up snakes with
their hands; and when they drink deadly poison, it will not hurt them at all; they will
place their hands on sick people, and they will get well." (Bible) This is what "True
Christians" are supposed to be able to do. If they can do this, how come ministers and
priests aren't going around doing these things?
Http://godisimaginary.com. "Proof #52 - Watch Your Minister, Pastor or Priest." God Is Imaginary - 50 Simple Proofs. Http://godisimaginary.com, 2007. Web. 12 Jan. 2011. <http://godisimaginary.com/i52.htm>.
The things that are described are impossible, just as impossible as a women who is said to
be a virgin giving birth to a magical being that is supposedly Jesus. The Bible sounds
like a dreamed-up fairytale. It is no truer that Leprechauns are. Not only the Bible,
but other religious texts will show that they are made up stories. God is an impossible,
imaginary being created by humans to try and explain why they exist. Evolutionary
theory has been proven by the fossil record, if we can find bones of ancestors billions of
years old, we would also find remains of the people in the Bible and the places where
they lived and evidence of the events that occurred in the Bible, such as the world-wide
flood. A proving factor of evolution is that the layers of the earth shows that life began
as very simple one-celled creature. In the Bible, animals are created by the snap of God's
finger, which is scientifically wrong because there is proof for evolution in not just
humans, but animals too. The Grand Canyon would have been created in just a matter of
days according to Christians but there is scientific proof that it took 17 million years to
actually form. If God created all the creatures on earth in a matter of days, how do
Christians explain the dinosaurs? The dinosaurs would have existed 200 years before
Adam and Eve, and that would mean that the earth had to already be there and God
couldn't have created the world in seven days if the dinosaurs were already extinct and
gone.

The oldest known rocks on the planet are the Acasta Gneisses in northwestern Canada
near Great Slave Lake. These rocks are estimated to be 4.03 billion years old. The Bible
teaches that the earth is under 10,000 years old, when it clearly is not according to
science.
Stassen, Chris. "The Age of the Earth." Http://www.talkorigins.org/. The Panda's Thumb, 10 Sept. 2005. Web. 13 Jan. 2011. http://www.pandasthumb.org/.
For humans to evolve into what they are today it would have taken some 2.0 billion
years, it would be impossible for humans to evolve fully in 10,000 years. Some religions
believe that God created our human ancestors and killed them off to explain their bones.
That would make no sense, because if God is so intelligent he would know what would
happen beforehand. Some Christians believe that the 7 days God created the universe
were actually eons. That is a good point, but if Adam and Eve never know death before
they sinned, that would make the bones of our ancestors that died not exist according to
this theory.
Scheifler, Michael. "Did God Create the World Through Evolution?" Michael Scheifler's BIBLE LIGHT HOMEPAGE. Http://biblelight.net. Web. 14 Jan. 2011. <http://biblelight.net/7days.htm>.
Many of the Religions that exist today are filled with holes. People that go by them refuse
to admit this or are blinded by their faith. It isn't wrong to go by the morals religion
teaches us, but when people try to push their religion on others or say bad things about
evolution or other religions they are going against the very morals they say they go by.
People should try to accept other people's beliefs and avoid trying to prove each other
wrong all the time. If God were actually real, wouldn't that be what he would want?
Whether or not he is, when people die they find out what the truth really is and maybe in
whatever afterlife there is people no longer fight over their beliefs. If it is true that people
evolved from primates, maybe they simply go on in spirit or go back to the earth and live
again as something else. Life is a mystery and people like to try to find ways to explain
it. Life cannot really be explained until the person actually dies, then they can form their
own theory. Many Eastern religions believe in an afterlife, or reincarnation. The concept
that a person's spirit can live in another body after death has existed since the 5th century
BC. Hinduism, Buddhism, Taoism, and modern thought support reincarnation as a valid
possibility.
Valea, Ernest. "Comparative Religion - Reincarnation in World Religions." World Religions: Comparative Analysis. Ernest Valea, 5 Aug. 2009. Web. 18 Jan. 2011. <http://www.comparativereligion.com/reincarnation.html>.
It could all be possible, but there really is no actual verification for any of these
theories except for the fossils of our ancestors and the processes of mutation and
adaptation. Many people simply believe in what they want to, and it is a person's choice
in what they want to believe in. Although their beliefs may be wrong, you cannot take
them away from their own free will. Providing the information and sources for people
unaware of the theory of evolution is all people can do to save others from the
oppression of their self-made gods. Maybe science is wrong and all evolutionary
believers are going to go to hell, but they chose to believe in something they wanted to
believe. Humans are said to be the only existing higher intelligence on earth that can
speak and is self-aware. That is a belief, it is not a fact. There could be an animal just as
smart as humans that simply chooses not to talk, or uses a form of telepathy or animal
noises to communicate. Mankind does not know everything there is to know, to know
everything would devastate the human race if it turned out to be negative. Sometimes, it
is better to be ignorant and not question life, but to simply to live and cherish what you
do have. There could be another planet with intelligent life on it even smarter than
humans, but it will be a long time before that is confirmed, if it is true. It is man's nature
to question life and why everything is what it is, if humans didn't question anything they
may not be as intelligent as they are today. If it weren't for human nature, maybe our
ancestors would have never decided to sharpen a stick and hunt, and human beings would
not have survived. What separates us from chimpanzees is our curious, questioning
disposition and desire to learn. Perhaps mankind's success can be contributed to its own
will to live and flourish instead of a magical being. People should think about this first
before they shame themselves and attribute everything that exists to God, who for all we
know may be just as real as the tooth fairy. If he is real. He could have given us our
intelligence and chose to stand back from his creation and not disturb it. Mankind has
even the courage to give this being a sex and his own fan club. Mankind could be just a
speck of dust in the universe, surrounded by other specks of dust that are just like our
own, all in the palm of God or whatever the cause for life is.
Humans will continue to discover more about the unknown, and someday they
will know everything. Perhaps on the day we know everything that hand will decide to
crush its sick experiment and start all over again. The universe is a system of cause and
effect, when things are put into place they can make big differences, such as the Big Bang
theory. Who knows? The only one who could know all of this is whatever caused
mankind to exist, whether that is an entity or nothing at all but scientific fact.
The miracle is not to fly in the air, or to walk on the water, but to walk on the earth.
