Thesis Statement: The topic of my essay is "Video Games" and my reason for writing it is to convince the reader that they can and should start playing video games. It lists how and why to do so as well.
_________________________________________________________________________
Have you ever wanted to do something so fantastic, amazing, or stunning that you'd never be able to manage it in real life?  Well, the good news is: you can. The only thing you have to do is buy yourself a video game.  What is a video game you ask?  Simple, a video game can be a virtual representation of one or more aspects of the world we live in, or it could be something entirely different, a representation of imagination!  People everywhere are learning the joys of playing video games for a variety of reasons, and you can too!

By now you're probably asking yourself something like: "Why are there video games?", "What is the point in playing video games?".  Well, video games are created, in nearly all cases, to provide their players with entertaining experiences, and normally allow players to achieve a sense of accomplishment they may seldom get in real life.  Therefor it is reasonable to say that players get quite a few things out of video games that make the hobby worthwhile.

Another question you may want to ask is: "Are video games popular?".  In answer to that question, video games are played by everyone, everywhere around the world!  Though by "everyone" I mean that people of all ages, races, ethnicities, and mentalities can come to enjoy video games, and millions of people world-wide have already started.  With all the popularity they have gained it wouldn't be so hard a thing to convince yourself to start playing, would it?

Hopefully, by now I've captured your attnetion and gotten you interested enough in video games that you'd like to start playing right now!  Sadly though, you probably don't know where to look for those things called "video games".  However, I'm here to tell you that all you need is to go to your local mall and ask or look around in order to find a game retailer near you!  Even if you're afraid to ask people about where to find game stores it's just as easy to get on a computer, search for game retailers, and find local stores through their sites. Seeing how easy it is, there's little reason not to go and try one out, don't you think?

Now, assuming you've read everything until now, you know where and how to find video game stores, but before you go out and buy a game, there is still something you'll want to consider.  In order to buy what you want, you have to know what you want.  This means that you'll have to decide which game system you'll use to run the gamese you buy, you will have to know what genre of game you're looking for, and then it'd be best to do some research on your genre of choice, in order to find the best games for you. There's little worse than having bought a game for the wrong system, or realizing the game you bought is nothing like what you wanted! Luckily, if you follow my advice, that won't happen to you.

Finally, once you've made your choice and bought a game there's only one more thing you need to be aware of.  What you need to know is how to play your game!  As I've mentioned, there are numerous games per genre and numerous genres too, with each game having different controls than the others.  Thankfully, games normally come with a pamphlet that gives detailed descriptions of how the games work, including controls.  Having said that, you absolutely must read those guides with each game you get, especially your first game, until you become familiar enough with games to figure the controls out yourself.  After all, no matter how much enthusiasm you may have by now, you won't be able to play a game without the proper knowledge.

In conclusion, we've learned many things about video games that are either useful or necessary to know in order to embark on your gaming journey! You've learned what video games are, how popular they are, where you can obtain them, how to select your games, and how to actually learn to play the games you buy.  The only thing left for you to do now is to actually go out, buy a game, and start playing!
