Update the Update: It looks like the cut and paste block is not working for all browsers. We are checking it out and will have it fixed by tomorrow.
Update: Readers can no longer highlight and copy writing on a page. We are also experiencing some trouble with the Popular Indexes and are working to fix them. Comments on Booksie pages are also offline temporarily while we work to fix them.
Today Booksie released two new enhancements to improve the reading and writing experience. They are a ban on right clicking and new Read pages.
The bank on right clicking is something requested by many authors on the site. It may cause conflicts with some browsers so if you experience an issue scrolling down the page and leaving a comment, let us know.
The other feature is a newly redesigned Read page. While the Read pages may look similar they have been totally reengineered. Changes that readers will see include:
- The default for the Read pages set to New content. This means readers will always see the latest content posted to the site and provide more visibility to all authors.
- Novels in the Popular section of the site are grouped together, not by individual chapters. Novels are now only shown once on the Popular pages, not by chapter. All Read, Comments, and Like counts are for the entire novel, not for individual chapters. This provides Readers with a better idea about the popularity of a novel and also provides more room for other novels to be listed. One novel cannot take up multiple listing spaces like before.
- New listing criteria for the homepage. We have implemented a new way for the homepage to calculate popular writing. From now on the homepage will update weekly and we hope it will display a list of exciting and new content for everyone to discover.
We expect there will be a few bugs as we roll out the new systems. We have discovered one problem leaving comments and we are working to resolve it. We are now also working on the posting system to fix some of the formatting issues found on the site and to give writers more and better ways to present their writing.
Thank you for supporting Booksie.
