November 27th,

You're almost here again.

You come once a year.

That day, 9 years ago was the worst of life.

I lost my bestfriend,

My support,

My father.

I remember as if it was yesterday,

I may have been only 7,

But I remember.

I remember the night before,

The 26th,

Mom and I went out to dinner,

You were too sick, asked Mom to feed you,

She denied..and that night,

You were taken away from us.

Thursday, November 27, 2003.

The ambulance was there,

The police were there,

And I remember standing behind my mom as she spoke to the officer,

I was scared, who were these people? And why were they in my house?

I don't remember how we got to the hospital,

I remember sitting there colouring, swinging my feet.

I remember my brother being there, my sister, everybody was crying.

I remember my brother looking at me, and telling me,

"He's gone, and he's never coming back, don't you understand?!"

Of course I understood,

I was there when it happened, I woke up too it.

My best friend was taken away from this world,

My best friend left,

But never really left me,

My Dad is always with me.

We cried, as a family.

We gathered together, as a family.

We held onto you, as a family.

They say time heals wounds,

Sure, time does, but not when you pick at them,

And we all can't get over this.

At least Mom and I can't.

Every year,

Mom is gone, on Novemeber 27th,

she's always gone, even if she's right in front of me.

She has one beer, then turns into 5, and continues.

I, well, I cry.

I cry at school,

I don't focus,

But I have my friend.

That day, that tragic day,

Made me stronger,

See the bright side of things,

Show me not to give up,

Made me push on,

And gave me the biggest role of my life,

Looking after Mom, and my older sister.

I wouldn't trade everything I got from that day for anything.

He's looking down on us,

He's proud,

I'm proud.
