Eagerness leads nowhere

A character development piece. If any of this seems like it's someone else's work, I assure you that all this came straight from my head.

She was so eager to please; placing her heart in someone else's hands. She didn't give her heart to anyone in particular. She just always expected someone to be there. And when anyone showed up, she'd rid herself of the burden, and expect that someone to be there, to help her. But they would walk away, allowing the heart to fall on the ground, with an audible "squish". It didn't break. There would be no reason for it to. But it did get a bit beat up over time. Sure it didn't happen often, but when it did, the height of the fall didn't diminish, and the poor thing got beat up time and time again. I pity her. She never learned how to take care of herself. She would always need someone there, someone to help her. She was a useless excuse of a human being. Sure she had a pretty package, but she couldn't even appreciate that. She fell deeper and deeper into an oblivion of her emotions. She allowed her feelings consume her whole. All of the sadness, reminiscence, loss, confusion and longing was mixed in one cocktail which she drank full without asking questions. She didn't feel the side-effects; the shaking of her body, the rapid beating of her hear, the heat that her body radiated. She was too far gone. She was consumed in the downward spiral of her mind. It flashed images in front of her eyes. Images of those who she trusted, the same people betrayed her. Images of those who cared for her, they walked away. Images of those who said they would stay forever, they vanished like fog in the morning.
