An Uplifting Challenge!
So, here I've been lingering about Booksie and thinking to myself, "Hmm, where'd all the smiles go?"
I mean, really, why's everybody's story got to be such a downer? Don't get me wrong, I know there's a place for horror and tragedy and all that jazz (or should I say blues?), but would it kill us to write about, say, an optimist?
So, I propose a real challenge: write something uplifting!
It can be anything, a poem, a story, a song - no novel's please though, I'm not wonderwoman - as long as it ends with a smile :) Not literally. Don't go out of your way to make the last word "smile" or anything...
On another note, I'll say KEEP IT PG please. I mean, how can I be uplifted if you're going to swear all the time? Jeepers!
Now, I should also mention that your entire story doesn't have to be comprised of sunshine and roses and Mr. Bluebird on your shoulder or anything - a proper story still has a conflict. We're going for a world class, uplifting resolution. Theoretically, you'll have to sink deeper in order to rise higher, right? So, don't be afraid of a little drudgery, so long as it leads us to Mr. Bluebird's house in the end (again, not literal. If you include Mr. Bluebird, I will laugh but I won't give you bonus points :P)
Due date will be October 1st. That should give you time to think of something positive, ahah. Hopefully it's not too hard!
