This is a response to Pratibha to share a family favorite recipe that has brought much joy to the children. They don't last very long though. It doesn't work with Splenda though for any one who is diabetic. I hope you like it. It is call No Bake Chocolate Peanut Butter Oatmeal Cookies. View table of contents...

No Bake Chocolate Peanut Butter Oatmeal Cookies

It's been around for a long long time

Easy to prepare and so sublime

Best when added a dash of love

Sure to please your sugar dove

Or sugar daddy, I should say

Only takes about ten minutes of your day

A craving for sweet will certainly abate

And best of all there is hardly a wait

I've pulled this one off a bunch of times

Like the ringing of bells and the chiming of chimes.

**********

In a saucepan you will need

1 stick of butter

1 1/2 cups of sugar( the original recipe called for 3 cups sugar...way too sweet)

1/4 cup cocoa powder

1/2 cup of milk

Bring the mixture to a boil over medium heat to melt and combine the ingredients.

Let cook for about 4 to 5 minutes.

Remove from heat and add

3 1/2 cups of quick cooking oatmeal

1/2 cup of peanut butter

1 tsp. vanilla

Mix well and drop by spoonfuls onto wax  paper.  They will harden as they cool down, if you can wait that long.

Try a little less oatmeal. The quick oatmeal is easier to chew than the whole oats, although the whole oats are much better for you. Poor little Kriish, now I feel bad for him. It is a quick fix for when my kids want something sweet and in a hurry. My aunt made them for us when we went to visit when I was about 10 and my mom got the recipe from her and would make the cookies with the 3 cups of sugar, but as I got older and realized that they were just too sweet, I experimented and cut it down to half. My poor mom has diabetes and her mom had it, so I watch my sugar intake because I don't want to come down with it. My little Joshua has such a sweet tooth. His eyes gleam whenever I make something sweet and he needs to watch his weight. He's 11. and going to Middle School and wants to look good and not be picked on for his weight.
