To start off, I'll give you some back ground information, just in case someone decides to read this.
I work for a small town diner in an interstate town; it opened up about a year ago, I have been working there since day one. I have been doing scheduling and figuring hours since the month after we opened. The boss/owner is hardly ever around, maybe there for about a half hour in the mornings when we open, then gone for the day.
During the summer months, we can easily employ five to six people; but during the winter, we are only open eight hours a day, and beings our boss didn't want to let anyone go for the winter, everyone's hours were cut down close to nothing. Beings I had been there the longest, I thought that it was only fair that I got the extra shift each week. So it was decided, I would work 24 hrs a week and the other two waitresses/baristas would work 16 hrs a week. I went from working 40+ hours a week during the summer down to working 24, and the other ladies, yes, they got their time cut too, but one had just started working there, and the other one started working a couple months after we opened, but she would ONLY work four days a week, and ONLY mornings, so she worked roughly 24hrs a week.
This winter, we had a lot of snow storms, and she lives about 10 miles from town, highway all the way. At even the hint of snow in the air, she would call and say that she wouldn't be coming to work that day because it was supposed to snow, it was snowing, or it had snowed; well okay fine, so I would go ahead and work for her, then she thought that since I had filled in a day for her, it was ONLY FAIR that I let her work one of the days that I was scheduled, because she was only on the schedule two days a week, after her insisting over and over, i finally caved and let her do it this way for a while. but after her doing this to me a few times, I decided that I was tired of having to always be switching my schedule around because she was deathly afraid to drive on snowy roads, even after it melted. So I told her that I wasn't going to switch her days anymore, and that I would still be willing to work her days that she couldn't come in, but she wasn't going to get any of my days in return.
OKAY: Now onto my piece I wrote to vent:
You think:
I'm rude,
I don't care,
I lack the respect to be a leader,
I'm self-centered,
And too busy looking out for number 1,
If only you knew how each battle was tearing me up inside,
I'm a natural people pleaser, and standing up to you is taking its toll,
There is nothing more that I would like at this moment than to give in,
I'm tired of the fight,
Tired of all the accuzations and drama,
If it were up to me, this would have been long ago taken care of,
But I have people in my corner, telling me to stay strong,
No matter how hard to fight, don't give an inch,
If you give an inch, people will take a mile,
What can I say...
I'm sorry I'm 30 + years younger, but in a management position,
Sorry I'm the one that the boss discusses business with,
Sorry I stopped catering to you every demand,
So in retaliation to me not bowing before you,
You go behind the bosses back to call a meeting,
After you call all the workers, but me, you tell the boss that there is a meeting the next day at 2,
I show up that day to work, only to find out that there is a meeting that afternoon that you called,
Incase you didn't notice, he wasn't very happy that you went behind his back and did this,
This meeting wasn't actually a meeting, but a hen pecking party,
And I was the target, you got all of the employees together to listen to you go off on me,
In hopes that they would join in, and when no one joined in, it deflated your sails, and the meeting was over,
You tried to air dirty laundry about me to the boss, but little did you know,
He already knew of everything you tried to do to make me look bad,
I saved my ass, I told him what I did right after it happened, every time,
But yet you point the finger at me,
Telling me that I am rude, disrespectful, and only watching out for myself,
When the whole point of your meeting was to fry me at the steak,
But what you have failed to notice is that the boss was on my side,
He tells me every day that I have put up with more shit from you than what he ever would,
So tell me again... I'm the heartless bitch.that doesn't care about anyone else..
