It was one of those days. A day where you were bored out of your mind, but you had a million things to do. Where you sit in front of your computer, and always find something better to do. And that’s exactly what I did, I neglected the hours of homework piling up on me and I searched the vast space of the internet. It was on this day, that I found the amazing website of Booksie.
Hi- My Booksie account name is seesawmae and I’m 16 years old. I love reading (Like most people on this website) and I love to write. I’ve liked writing all my life. When I was little I would start to write stories, but I could never finish them. So I gave up hope. And then last year, I met a pen-pal from Australia. And She loved to write. She inspired me to write again. And I started to really enjoy it. I started to write my novel against all odds. But it wasn’t easy, I would write a lot and then times where I wouldn’t write at all. I had opinions from a lot of my friends, and it was great. But then it wasn’t enough, the sad truth of even if I wrote a piece of crap, my friends would still tell me that it was good. So I became discouraged, I no longer got the same joy out of writing anymore.
And then that day came. I was searching in Fanfiction, wondering if I should join so that I could publish my story and get real comments from real people, that would judge my story for what it was, not for who wrote it. I joined, but I got frustrated when I had to be a member for a certain number of days before I could publish. So I gave up on it, it’s not like I write fanfiction anyways. So I searched on, found many stupid websites, and ones you had to pay to join. And I’m not the type of person that will pay to get published. And then I found it—Booksie! It was extremely promising when I read the page. And instantly I wanted to join, to be part of this great website, to see if it was really what it was made out to be.
So on January 8th 2008 I became a proud member of Booksie. I added several chapters of my novel against all odds on, telling myself that if someone commented and said they liked it, that I would add more. And then I got it, my first comment:
this is pretty good so far. Cant wait to read more. (gothtinkerbella)
I was speechless. The joy that filled me was indescribable. I added the rest of my novel. And I managed to finish my first novel. Booksie helped me all the way. It was amazing! And then my first fan, I was ecstatic!
So here I am, two and a half months later. I have started two more novels and have a short story. Booksie has been amazing. When I occasionally get another comment, I feel amazing. The people on Booksie are great, they are really there to help you, to make you feel welcome and accepted, which is all we’re looking for in this world – acceptance.
And Booksie didn’t just help me with my writing. It was so much more. I met some amazing people on Booksie. And I’m sure I will meet many more, which is just great. But also reading what the other people on Booksie have written, it was amazing. Booksie helped me when I became depressed and started to cut myself. I read stories about depression, and it made me feel better. I felt less alone.
And then Booksie aloud me to do another thing I love to do – Help people. I love to help people. And I know that when I read another Booksie member’s work, and made a nice comment, I would make them feel better, maybe even encourage them to write more. And this made me happy, to know that I made someone else happy.
And to sum it up, Booksie is an amazing place. It feels like an actual community, not just a place where you have to be an amazing writer just to get noticed. But all writers on Booksie are amazing! And I love how everyone here has changed me. I LOVE BOOSIE!!!!
And I also want to add that I love to help people, anyone. I will try and help anyone who wants help. If you want to just talk, I will. And if you want me to read and comment on something you wrote I would be honored. So if you need anything, anything at all, just let me know! I want to help!
Oh and the most important part:
WELCOME TO BOOKSIE!!!
