Hello all, and welcome to this amazing and wonderful booksie family! Yes, I said family. Booksie isn’t just a website, but a home to many people, including myself.  I have decided to write a short story on how I got into writing and how I found booksie and just how it has changed my life.

I have always loved to read. Even before I knew how to, I loved it. How, you may ask? I always use to fake I was in school, and I use to love sitting on the couch with a big book and pretend I knew how to read it. Hoping that one day I wouldn’t have to pretend. Once I went into kindergarten and learned to read I use to always beg for books whenever we went to the store. Before I went into second grade I had went up to reading those mini-chapter books.  Then, in fourth grade I discovered the art of writing stories.

After writing all those silly prompts they gave us, my teacher told me that she though I had a nack for writing. I told her I loved reading and I loved to write. She told me that she thought I would become a famous author some day. I had never really thought about it until right then. When I got home I ran to my Nanny and told her that I wanted to be a writer when I grew up. Nothing has changed there much; I still want to be a writer.

For a long time (ever since I discovered the amazing internet.) I have tried to find the perfect website to share my work on, but nothing really exciting popped up. Yes, deviantArt is an awesome website, but not as great as booksie.

After signing up with deviantArt and being on there for a while, I decided I wanted more than just that. I wanted to share my work with other writers, just writers. Where I could get real opinions on it. I mean, try going up to a friend or family member and asking them to read it. It’s hard to get an honest opinion from them. They are too nice and don’t want to give you any type of criticism towards something you really love.

That’s where booksie comes in.

I was looking up the subject of writing on StumbleUpon seeing if I could find a good writing website. When I got to booksie, it caught my eye. The front page was simple, but at the same time really creative. One of the stories that were on the featured writing caught my eye and I decided to check it out. I got so into the story and I loved the layout of how booksie was and I just decided it seemed like a really honest and cool site, which then I decided to make an account.

It was December 30, 2007 around five A.M in the morning when I first became a member on booksie. I was known by the screen name of gothiktinkerbella. Which, I am no longer known by. I will get to that later on.

I started writing a novel that everyone knew as “Karma Darevco”.  Booksie helped me get all the way up to chapter six, which I had never gotten up to before. I had always stopped around the first few chapters and started a new story. All my fans and friends I had made on booksie helped me get through it. They were my friends, but yet still gave me the harsh criticism I needed to make my story better. They can relate to what you go through with trying to get honest criticism out of your family and friends.

After a couple of months being on booksie, I found out that someone had stolen my Karma Darevco story and had put it on another website, claiming it theirs.  That hurt me so bad, it felt like someone had taken a katana and pushed it through my heart. I became very paranoid and decided to leave all the websites I had my writing on. It hurt me to leave all the friends that I considered family on booksie. I kept in touch with some.

After I left booksie I became very good friends with Darkfairy8907, she always puts a smile on my face. She is like a big sister to me, and she’s one of my best friends.

I got stuck in this very annoying writers’ block and couldn’t write at all. I missed booksie and all my friends.

After a couple of months a friend from deviantArt told me she knew where the person who stole my story got it from. She hated to say it, but the person stole it from deviantArt. I was a bit sad for that because deviantArt had been like a home to me before I found booksie. But, also really happy because it wasn’t booksie. So, I decided to talk to my best buddy and big sis Darkfairy. I told her my thoughts on wanting to come back to booksie, and she thought it was a great idea. So, I decided to make a new account. A name I wouldn’t grow out of and that fit me well. So, she stayed up with my stubborn self basically all night, looking for the perfect name. We went through so many different names, it was crazy.

Then, NocturnalMuse popped up and we liked it. So, that’s what I went with. Nocturnal because she says I’m nocturnal because I stay up so late. I’m a night owl. Then, muse because the night gives me inspiration and helps me write better. For some reason the day blocks my brain from writing sometimes.

I am currently working on a story and back into gear with my writing, ever since coming back to booksie. Booksie is a wonderful place, a home to me. I seriously don’t know what I would do with out it, or where my writing would be. I am making new friends and keeping the old. Booksie is my home and the booksians are my family. Even, almost as much as my own family is.

Booksie is like a little town, full of the most amazing people you can meet on the internet. They are honest and such great writers.

You will find a lot of support on booksie.

Booksie has changed my life in so many ways that I just can’t possibly describe how grateful I am to be on booksie and be part of the booksie family. If I ever get a book published (which is a HUGE goal of mine!) I am going to put a lot of thank yous in the dedications. One will go to booksie itself. Another one will go to all the amazing people I have met on booksie and everyone who has supported me and kept me going and kept me writing.

Thank you booksie and everyone I have met on booksie!

I hope all of you new members of the booksie family will have the greatest time on booksie and I hope it becomes a home to you as well. I also, hope it helps you and changes your life for the better like it has done mine.

I wish you all the best!

Never give up on your dreams, no matter how huge they are. Maybe, one day you’ll find that dreams do come true, and not just in fairy tales.

People who steal are scum, I'm glad that they didn't steal it from Booksie though, and that you are finally back!

Wondeful tribute from someone who has been there and done it before. Honestly i have been tempted to join a new site that i have seen... really tempted... not sure why... i guess i have that fear that someone could create a new image/persona and copy everything that i am on that new site... and peopl wouldnt know better... its kind of embarrassing to say it but i fear that...

Yeah i definately remember who you were when you came back. :)
Nice history, i have been stuck here since the beginning hahahahaha, i guess that is why another site sounds tempting... please scold me for having such ideas hahahahah
