I’ve always loved reading. Absolutely everything. From magazines to “grown-up” novels. Ninety percent of the time, I didn’t understand what I was reading, but I kept going. I never thought of writing something.
It just wasn’t my thing, you know? I remember in my final year of school, my teacher was reading a poem for us. I found it so boring, I said to myself: Bloody Hell! Who writes crap like that?
Unfortunately I didn’t just say it to myself. I actually said it out loud in class without me realizing it. Obviously my teacher wasn’t impressed. She said something about me not appreciating talented writers and quality word. HAHahahAhaAhahahaAHah!
I used to get good grades for creative writing. It was no big deal for me. A South African writer was having a “writing school” for students across my province who showed some writing talent. My teacher (the same one) nominated me and I was chosen to go but couldn’t make it because of problems at home.
Anyway, I’ve written the odd poem here and there but nothing serious like this. My friend (Kittycat on Booksie) work together and we both love to read. I remember I was working at Casualty one night and Kittycat called me from where she worked on the other side of the hospital and told me about Booksie. I was quite excited and registered as fast as I could type. Now the name: I do not consider myself as funny. Not at all. Neither as a bunny. I don’t know why I picked this silly name but now I’m stuck with it!
I wasn’t as serious about Booksie as I am now. So I’m stuck with the worst possible pen name in the WHOLE WIDE WORLD. If I knew then what I know now (I sound like Phil Collins, don’t I?) I would have picked a more…more…NORMAL name like puppy or pooch or something.
Now my first novel, The Battle For Ikriam, yet again I have no idea where that came from. I didn’t read fantasy, watch it or even think about it until now. (FYI – I have been dubbed an official Final Fantasy player by Lionheart!)
The poems just come random. I sometimes wake up with a poem in my head. What a way to start the day.
I’ve met so many friends on Booksie and even became very good friends with some of them.
