I woke up with sun streaming onto my face. The chirping of birds was a sweet, melodious sound. I smiled; I had the whole day to relax in the sun, maybe going swimming. I could hear Zeke humming away in the kitchen. Zeke… I crash-landed back to reality.
After I dressed in a pale blue and yellow dress, I headed into the kitchen.
"Morning," Zeke said, happy as ever.
"Morning," I replied sleepily.
"Has Aimee already left?"
"Yeah she has," he replied, placing bacon and eggs on my plate.
"So, I was thinking today maybe we could go back to the lake," suggested Zeke, smiling at me hopefully.
"Sure," I managed a smile without looking too strained.
We finished breakfast quickly, and packed a few belongings, plus food, into a bag.
The walk was quick and silent; we didn't seem to have much to say. This gave me a chance to mull things over, but also chance to sneak a look or two at Zeke. His eyes were mesmerizing green and the colour of his hair was what I imagined chocolate mixed with caramel to look like. He was strong and sturdy; he had easily lifted me up the other day. He always had this cute smile on his face, and he quiet and thoughtful. Not much to hate, at least in my opinion.
"Indi." His voice brought me back down to earth.
"Yep… sorry. I was on another planet."
He laughed and I blushed a pale shade of pink.
"Let's swim." He said, heading for the water.
I ran in after him, the cold hitting my bare legs. The rays of the sun warmed me, while the water cooled me. The effect was a comfortable temperature.
Slowly, I came up behind Zeke and splashed him.
"Argh!" he screamed, as the cold water hit his back.
"Oh!You're so going to get it now!" He called, laughing as he turned around to chase me.
I half ran through the knee deep water, trying to avoid slowing down. Behind me, the sounds of splashing water stopped. I paused.
"Gotcha!" cried Zeke, wrapping his arms around my waist.
I turned around to face him, and found myself staring into his eyes. The water around was still and the sun was shining upon us.
He stared into my eyes, moving his head ever so slightly closer to mine.
"Zeke…" I began.
Before I could finish my sentence his lips were at mine. His kiss was at first timid and cautious, but as I grew more confident; so did he.
I allowed myself to be swept away in the moment, I couldn't hear a single thing. Any chills I had from the water had evaporated, my heart had taken over my mind.
Slowly, he pulled away. I blushed as he reached for my hand. Together, we waded towards the grass.
We sat on our towels enjoying the sun and each others company. We ate our lunch, and time just seemed to slip away. It wasn't until the sky gradually began to darken that I realized how late it had become. We packed our things slowly, not wanting to leave this place that was now so special to us.
"You know, Aimee is going to have a fit when she hears about this," I said, laughing at the thought.
"You're right. She'll claim I 'stole you' or something like that." He replied, laughing that angelic laugh I loved.
"But, she's become a really good friend of mine. And I have a funny feeling she suspected something was going on."
"Yeah," he replied hesitantly.

Hand in hand, we strolled back home. I couldn't comprehend that in 2 days I was going home. I glanced at Zeke. Oh well, I thought. I'll worry about that when the time comes.

NOTE: I would like to thank my AWESOME friend Alice for her help with this chapter :)
