I woke up to the sound of low murmurs. I was staring at a pastel green ceiling. Where was I? How did I get here?
“Do you think she will wake up soon,” asked an impatient, yet caring male voice.
“I don’t know!! I’m not some medical expert!” replied a frustrated, but chirpy voice.
I rolled over; this bed was so soft and comfy. I sank into the mattress, I hadn’t been this comfortable in days.
Slowly, I sat up.
“Um…” I paused, and they jumped before turning to look at me.
“Oh. Wow. You’re awake,” said the girl. She began to walk towards me. She was cute, short with blond hair.
“Ok. Well. I’m Zeke.” The guy in the corner smiled at me. He had caramel brown hair and dreamy green eyes. I tried to smile back.
“And I’m Aimee,” replied the girl.
“I’m Indiana.” I replied, laughing at the awkwardness of the situation.
“So… are you going to tell us what the hell is going on?” Aimee asked.
“Aimee!!” scolded Zeke. “Indiana probably wants to have a shower.”
He looked at me. “You do want a shower, right?”
I smiled. “Definitely.”
I climbed out of the bed. I realized I was only wearing my tattered shorts and t-shirt; and I couldn’t help but blush as I walked past Zeke.
“It’s just through that door,” said Aimee, pointing. “There are towels in there you can use. Once you’ve freshened up, maybe you could tell us why you’re here.” She looked pointedly at Zeke.
“Much better,” he replied, trying to sound reproaching; but that came across was a frustrated smile.
I disappeared into the bathroom. The warm water down my back was an amazing sensation. I had no idea how I would get out.
Now all I had to do was figure out how to tell Aimee and Zeke how I got into this mess.
