“Draco? Is...is it really you?” One solitary tear fell out of my eye and made it's way down my cheek. “No, this isn't possible, you, you're dead.”
“Marissa, you live in a world full of monsters and demons and magical powers, why can't a ghost be real?” Damon tried to reason with me, but I wouldn't listen to him, I was too confused as to why Draco, or rather Draco's ghost was outside my window.
“Because, they don't exist! I can understand monsters, they are just another type of animal, but ghosts? That, it's not possible...” I fell to my knees and put my head in my hands. “It just doesn't make sense....what happened to you, Draco?” I looked up and he looked at me with a a face so sad that broke my heart into pieces, he looked depressed, he looked like a man who has his wife and children slaughtered in front of him. This only made more tears fall from my face, What if it is him? Just go talk to him, go see. I thought to myself.
With a heavy feeling and an equally heavy heart, I stood up and went over to the window. I put my palm on the glass and he lifted his hand and did the same, but as soon as he touched the window, he drew back his hand as if it burned him to touch it. I opened the window, maybe it was just the layer that he couldn't touch, but when he tried to go through the window, his face twisted into one of unimaginable pain and he retreated.
“No, come back,” I whispered as he started drifting away. He looked to the left, towards the front of the house and grimaced. He looked back at me and pointed the direction he looked.
“I think he wants us to go outside, I will go, you wait here.” Damon told me.
“Yeah, okay, hell no. If you are going, so am I, let's go.” Damon shook his head at me, smirked and motioned me forward. I literally ran down the stairs and outside, wondering all the while what Draco wanted to show me. I was prepared for anything. Or so I thought. When I opened the front door, the sight brought me to my knees, Draco's body was tied to a pole in front of the house, and there was a piece of paper taped just below his lifeless body.
I paid little attention to the piece of paper though, my attention was captured on his limp body, getting cut by how tight the rope was. I let out a strangled cry and started sobbing. He had multiple knife wounds to his chest and arms, and there were stains where the blood seeped through his shirt. His face was battered, bruised, cut, and it looked like some sick person cut off some of his hair. “C-c-cut him d-d-down, p-pleas-se” I told Damon as his just stared blank-faced at the sight before him. He shook his head a little bit and he started forward, plucking the pocket knife he always held in his pocket. Switching open the blade, and started cutting the rope that bound Draco to the pole. He stumbled under the weight but quickly regained his balance, “Where do I put him, My Lady?” He looked at me, silently pleading me to let him put the dead body down, quickly.
“Just on the grass, watch his head please.” I looked to the right and saw Draco watching as Damon handled his dead body, looking displeased that he was being disturbed. I motioned him to come over and sit beside me, but when he did, I got a shiver that ran up and down my spine. It got really cold all of a sudden and I saw the grass get coated in a thin layer of frost around where he was sitting.
“Why are you so cold? Look at the grass.” I pointed to the ground where the grass had turned white. He looked down and shrugged. “You can't talk can you?” I asked him. He just shook his head and looked down sadly.
“What did they do to you?” I questioned softly, but he just shrugged and pointed to his body, as if it held all the answers. I shivered again, but this time it wasn't because I was cold, but because I got the eerie feeling that someone was watching me. I turned towards the shrub peering into the darkness, and tried searching for whoever was watching me, but I found nothing.
Just then I remembered the note taped to the post. I got up and ran over to where we found the body, and looked at the note. It was covered it blood, I shuddered and carefully plucked it off and opened it.
My dearest daughter,
I hope you enjoyed the gift we left you, and let it serve as a warning to all of you, do not cross your mother. You could have been happy being one of us, having all the freedom in the world,. Instead you chose to go with those, ugh, humans. Well, anyways, we have your precious Lucas, and if you ever want to see him alive again, do not come after him.
Yours truly, mommy
“That WENCH! SHE, SHE, SHE UGHHH!” I screamed and threw the note down. Damon ran over to me and bent down to retrieve the note. He read it and his face blanched, not knowing what to do, he just dropped it and he hugged me. We just stood there held in each others arms, not knowing what to do or what to say.
“We have to go get him, you know that, right Damon?” He sighed in defeat, knowing that he couldn't argue with me.
“Yeah, I know....lets suit up and get going. Hurry before people start to wonder where we are. I will go get Jade, you go get dressed. I will meet you out here in five minutes.” He kissed me briefly and stalked away towards the garage. I turned around and Draco gave me a disappointed look and then turned away. I messed up bad...I should never have fallen for Damon, but I think I love him...but what about Lucas? Will we ever find him? And if we do, will she actually kill him? All of this is just giving me a giant headache.
