"Miki! Wake up!" I shrieked
"huh... wha...?" she sat up, rubbing her eyes.
"come with me." I said, heading for the door.
"so noisy... seems like the aliens are still here..." she muttered.
"WAKE UP!" I hit her over the head.
"owowowowow...." she winced. "Huh?"
we heard a scream and immediately ran to the main room, only to find a scene right out of a horror book; dark red blood dripping off of every corner. Something fell out of the shadows and when we went to see what it was, i froze in shock. it was my mother, lying in her own pool of blood.
I took a step back and felt something under my feet. It was the head of one of the kitchen maids. Looking around, I saw that the whole floor of the room was covered in bodies of the staff and, worst of all, our family members.
My mind went blank and i just grabbed Miki's arm and ran out of the house.
Only to be met by a large group of people clad in black, all armed.
My eyes widened as a throwing-knife whizzed past me, missing me by a few millimetres, and lodging itself into the wall behind me.
"no... NO NONONONONO!!" I shrieked, falling to the ground and curling up into a ball.
Miki stepped in front of me.
"Get up." she growled, holding the knife.
"Eh?" was all I could manage.
"I am NOT dying here, got it?" she snapped, "Now Get Up."
I found myself obeying her, and standing up.
"Go." she said.
And all of a sudden, I felt really hot, my skin tingling.
What... Is going on...?
I feel like I'm floating... But I can feel my feet flat on the ground...
As suddenly as it came, the strange sensation left my body and when I looked around, I saw all of the black-clad figures sprawled all over the floor.
"What the..." I muttered.
"I should be the one asking that..." Miki said, getting up. "Well anyway. Lets go."
And we left the scene, questions spinning in my mind.
What was that...?
***
We sat under a tree and tried to catch our breath.
I leaned my head back. "what was that...?"
"I should be the one asking that!" Miki said, between gasps.
I laughed humourlessly.
Then I got up, leaning against the tree to regain my balance. Looking around, i saw that we were in the outskirts of the forest. All green and full of plants and flowers.
I heard a noise. It came from the bushes, so I knew it wasn't Miki... I turned to my right, and saw one of the black-clad people. But he was shorter than the rest. Still taller than me, though.
But this time, I knew who it was.
"Come on over, Yuuichi." I smiled as he walked over.
He pulled off his mask, and smiled. "long time no see."
"honestly, Yuuichi. You couldn't be more dramatic and stupid..." I sighed.
"Haha.. yeah." he laughed. "how did you know?"
"Because I know." I answered, "anyway, why dress up as one of them of all things?"
"ahh... well, i guess its because I didn't want to be caught by them so I acted like one of them..." he said.
I looked over at Miki, who was just sitting there, confused.
"Oh, yeah. Miki, this is Yuuichi, my friend." i said, introducing him. "and this, Yuuichi, is my cousin, Miki."
"yeah, hello!" he said. Miki nodded.
"Childhood friends?" she asked.
"well, actually I -" I clapped my hand over Yuuichi's mouth.
"Never mind about that~!" I said, moving my hand.
Both of them had Question-mark-looks. I just shook my head at Yuuichi.
"I'll explain later." I whispered in Yuuichi's ear. He nodded.
So we just decided to go deeper into the forest and hoped to exit the other side in one piece.
but, we only managed to get around the middle of the forest, where there was this giant, fat tree which was covered in vines, by sunset.
"bigger than it looks" I sighed, putting my hand to the tree's trunk.
"lets just set up for the night," Yuuichi suggested.
so I climbed up the tree to find some branches or vines which we could use for a bed. after a few ours, i finally found a bunch of thick vines and large leaves, which I weaved together to make 3 mats which would provide as beds for tonight. In the meantime, Miki was getting water, while Yuuichi got food.
By the time the two got back, I had finished making the mats and we had enough water and an assortment of nuts and berries.
We ate, we drank and then set for sleep after planning what to do the next day.
Late in the night, when I could hear that Miki was fast asleep, I got up and beckoned to Yuuichi, who was also up, and we walked to a tree which had proved to be sufficient enough so we wouldn't wake Miki.
"Now, explain," Yuuichi said, leaning back on the tree. "Why can't I tell?"
"Well, because you need to keep it down. We won't be able to continue on our way if she knew." I said, "she makes a huge fuss of everything, so we won't get any and I mean ANY peace if you tell her. I'll let you know when you can."
"Honestly, Alisa. You are so weird." Yuuichi said, chuckling.
I smiled, putting a finger to my lips.
