The Wish
She was the apple in his eye,
The star in his sky,
She was the never-ending laughter,
His happy ever after,
A diamond in the rough, he said,
A pristine book, not yet open, not yet read.
He travelled far,
He travelled long,
Thinking of that familiar song,
Kicking, screaming, loudly weeps,
Hush now child, your father sleeps.
He was up all night looking at the sky,
Watching, staring, as time flew by.
Remembering all those days that past,
Hoping, praying, that at last,
The wish he wished, upon a star,
Wondering where the answers are,
Would finally come true.
A wish to be at home,
With you.
