Sometimes we refuse to speak our own mind.

Chameleons of Humanity

We bend; to fit in with the crowd

Hiding our opinions beneath a shroud

Becoming like chameleons of humanity.

Trading our colors; flirting with insanity.

We fear isolation and rejection

Afraid we will sacrifice affection

We say; what others want to hear

A pitiful attempt to keep them near

We lose the ability to speak our mind

Leaving our true feelings, unsigned

Our own voice, lost in obscurity

Traded; for a false sense of security
