The Road We Seek

Poetry By: AutumnClark

I met my father about a year ago and when I contacted him, things were great. I lived with him for 6months and he began to act childish towards and jealous of the only family I've ever had growing up. I moved out and he's still angry with me. I'm hoping to make a mends and this is only step one.

People change, unlike the memories I guess./ We all have to learn to walk away at some point, step away from the mess./ But hold your breath because here comes the tears./ Another day, we'll conquer our fears./ One day nothing else will matter, except the time we lost./ Until then, I guess, we'll just pay the cost./

People change, unlike the memories I guess./ One day I'll forget the pain I feel now, the emptiness./ Until then, I'll hope you cross my path./ And I find it kinda ironic that you said what you said, so I'll just throw my head back and laugh./ Forgiveness is never easy, but we'll get through this somehow./ It all seems like a nightmare, the way it blew up, even now./

People change, unlike the memories I guess./ I held onto hope that maybe this could work, so that the heartache would be less./ You changed my life, don't get me wrong./ But now we fight and the road seems long./ I can only hope that we make up on this journey we traveled./ It seems this father/daughter relationship has unravelled.
