nobody knows what they have until its gone
nobody knows freedom until they've lost their chains
nobody knows what love can really feel like
until there's the end, which brings on SO many pains
but what someone will always remember
is who was there for them when their "love" never was
holding them as they cried for no reason
staying around and hugging you "just because"
you know its real pain when you cry yourself to sleep
but you know its real love when they all want to stay
telling you they love you and you just know its true
knowing that in twenty years, they'll love you like today
when i asked God for a miracle all those years ago
I thought he'd listened closely and given me the best
but now it's all too clear that I had asked the wrong God
the real angels are the ones there through joy and through stress
i cannot say thanks enough, you guys
for letting me be who i wanna (try) to be
without dictating me and tearing up my life
