Something’s grabbing my lungs,
Something’s grabbing my lungs.
It’s like a pillow over my head,
Smothering in dread and smoke and tears.

What is it that leers at me
From the closet?
That same monster from the past,
Knocking at the doors of the future,
And strangling tomorrow
And silencing today.

Almost there…

Almost where?

Trusting that thing for too long.
You can’t trust it.
You can’t trust anything.

What is it that leers at me from the closet?
Making my life its
Bank deposit?
