Tears
By Christopher Owens
I see you on your windowsill
Your head against the glass.
Looking out to the heavens above
Praying this feeling will pass.
I stand outside your window,
Looking up to your sad face.
Wishing I could reach out and touch your hand
And feel your warm flowing grace.
CHORUS:
Your tears are the rain
So sad and so cold.
The overwhelming downpour
That never grows old.
Never ceasing to fall
Breaking through the wall of life.
I want to hold you close to me
And protect you from the strife.
Your tears are my tears…
You can’t see me here
Tapping on the glass.
You’re busy hiding your face in your pillow,
Trying to forget the past.
I walk through the walls
The silky specter with no fear or doubt.
I lie next to you and hold you tight,
Keeping the nightmares away.
CHROUS:
Your tears are the rain
So sad and so cold.
The overwhelming downpour
That never grows old.
Never ceasing to fall
Breaking through the wall of life.
I want to hold you close to me
And protect you from the strife.
Your tears are my tears…
You sit upright,
See my transparent form.
You continue to cry again
Knowing nothing will go back to the norm.
Even though I am not there,
I hold you close and wipe away the tears.
Your embrace is just as strong as ever.
Wishing it would last forever.
Praying I would never, ever
Leave you alone and afraid.
God grant me this one chance
To make this right.
I’m drowning in darkness
But you are my shining light.
CHROUS:
Your tears are the rain
So sad and so cold.
The overwhelming downpour
That never grows old.
Never ceasing to fall
Breaking through the wall of life.
I want to hold you close to me
And protect you from the strife.
Your tears are my tears…
CHROUS:
Your tears are the rain
So sad and so cold.
The overwhelming downpour
That never grows old.
Never ceasing to fall
Breaking through the wall of life.
I want to hold you close to me
And protect you from the strife.
Your tears are my tears…
