Why can't she answer this prayer?

A gypsy goddess came to me
And offered one answered prayer
I did not ask for beauty or fame
Or to be a multimillionaire

Instead I prayed for his loving arms
To wrap me tenderly in a gentle hug
To reach to me when life called his bluff
To cradle me, warm and snug

Instead I prayed for his gorgeous eyes
To look at me with devotion and pride
To see me as something worth the risk
To witness the truth which can't be denied

Instead I prayed for his softened lips
To find their place upon my own
To whisper poetry and rhymes
To give me comfort when I feel alone

Instead I prayed for his conflicting heart
To calm and discover hidden passion
To beat for me and me alone
To flutter in awe and adoration

For all this I prayed to her
That great goddess from up above
But she must have forgotten her gift
For I have seen no sign of his love.
