This guy I knew one time
Was prettier than Elvis
But they called him a rolling stone
And yes he was
A rolling stone;
Went to London in 68
Made it big , but he didn’t sing
Like Elvis or those big time boys
He was just a rolling stone
Came back to town when his mother died
And I met him in the stairs
Before they took her coffin down.
Said life was like a river or a rolling stone.
He shot up in her bedroom
As he needed to do ]
Just shot up
Roll that stone baby !
When the church went silent
He looked beautiful again
Against the candle light
But his face was like a rolling stone.
One year later he too went in
The night of his oblivion
And he lies beneath a stone
That will roll no more.
No more rolling stone.
RIP.
