Have a heart they said
You're too disconnected
Spending this time just fleeing from feelings
Well what of my chest?
These bullet wounds never healed much
And am I insane or did I take one to the brain?
Having a heart is not caring unconditionally
It's a careful system you build and perfect eternally
That goes up to insure
You'll never wind up missing her
Drink less they said
You're too disconnected
Spending this time just fleeing from real life
Well what of my guts?
They wanted the taste of that liquor so much
And am I just drunk or should I keep feeding 'em?
It's a day in day out kind of plan
You drink one day out and the next one in
And it insures
That you'll never wind up missing her
Don't do drugs they said
You're too disconnected
Spending this time covering blind eyes
Well what of my limbs?
They just want to go numb again
And am I just high or should I stay up with you all night?
It's intraveneous, you stabbed me as I stabbed myself
It's a day in day out kind of plan
You exhale one day out and breathe a new one in
And it insures
That you'll never wind up missing her
