Je suis Contradiction

Poem By: Jak Sylvian
Other

Sorry it took so long, AND this isn't even what I have been (lazily) working on. Just a few random ramblings that have been swimming in my head since I woke up this morning. View table of contents...

Red and green,

Heard and seen,

Am now and have always been,

I’m a contradiction

Stone and feather

Denim and Leather,

Whatever the weather

I’m a contradiction

Synth-Pop and Rock,

Airport and dock

Open but locked

I’m a contradiction

Blond hair and brown,

Smile and frown,

Live by the coast and in town,

I’m a contradiction

Tea in a mug and coffee in a cup

Designer stubble and make-up,

When will you wake up?

I’m a contradiction.

Gay and straight,

Partner and mate,

Early and late,

I’m a contradiction

In Sickness and health,

Poverty and wealth

How many times have I said this,

Feels like the twelfth

I’m a contradiction.

Oh nice. I loved every line, perfect rhyming and another original idea. Who want's to be one thing? I like being different. :) You're proving to be a great poet huh? ~ Nixie

The best and greatest people I've ever known have been ones that are outside the conventional. Samey is boring and a sign of a weak mind and will, difference is everything!!

One of the big motivations for me to write is having you read and cast your expert eye over it. If I'm any good it's all thanks to those on here who awe-inspire me with their work. ;-) Want to try and give songs a crack next but best learn to crawl before I can walk!!

wow, I'm a contradiction, too XD

Sometimes you just have to piledrive a point home, no fancy frills or fluffy bunnies!

Thanks so much for reading, and even more so for taking the time out to comment, really appreciate it. :-)

I love the use of oxymorons and the rhyming gives the poem a lot of rhythm. The poem has a rebellious feel to it...contradicting everything and experiencing two opposites at the same time, if you know what i mean.

Keep up the great work, Jak!

Thanks so much Olola, everyone is a mish-mash of experiences, influences and in some people they seem to work together really well and compliment the other. I sometimes find that two traits conflict and depending on my mood one outweighs the other...
