Draw near to thee, oh marvelous sphere

Whose face sparkles through the veil of evening

Your countenance wrapped in stars

Under the ageless firmament enshrined

Draw near to us this night of nights

And to me, your faithful son.

Come oh Maiden of the twilight blessed

Whose face glows with a quiet light,

A somber mirror of the sun's retreat

To guide blind men as torches rest,

Draw near to me this darkest hour

And ease my bitter unrest.

Oh Lady of my heart's delight

Whose gentle glow embraces my soul,

With radiance poured from your chalice pure,

Immaculate bounty of your endless grace,

Grant me this night but a lowly favor

And lay still my passion's restless cries.

Oh clement spirit, ever loving, ever there!

Become now, for a moment, my tender succor

And with grace answer this humble prayer:

That on this night, fair Lady, with cool warmth dazzle

Let your beauty illumine my cold, blue cheeks

And light the path to my grave's dry embrace.
