Coming home from the burning sun
Lost, lonely and looking forlorn
The dusty heat of many days
Sites no longer to be bourn
The prison left behind at last
The marching on sand aflame
The confusion of fear then felt
No holding of useless shame
Shrugging off that heavy coat
Hanging of all duty now done
A heavy price his life did pay
Now hoping for future fun
Heartfelt thank him for all he did
The battles he had to taste
Pay him with love and care
Your life that he kept safe
