Goodbye (By November)

Poetry By: November

This is my tribute, in part, to Antonio Puerta, but also through this poem I hope I've succeeded in doing what I've wanted to do for a long time and that's write a poem worthy of saying goodbye to an old English teacher I had called Neil Laing. Essentially It isn't just for Antonio, nor even for him and Neil, but for everyone I, or anyone else, have lost, and for everyone who will be lost. Afterall, they say the only thing certain in life is death ...

It took two heart attacks to rip
you from what you love.
I would give anything to show
half that kind of love.

You are the reason
I hope Heaven exists,
in the hope that just maybe
you might just read this.

When the swifts they fly by
and the wind, it does blow,
it's you in my heart, and
I just want you to know

that you earnt my respect,
that's respect that can't be bought,
and this 'game' is pretty hollow now, but
I guess heaven was an angel short.
