Family - A Holiday Poem

Family is who you are related to

And includes those who you relate to

Family is who you may feel obligated to care for

And includes those you will strive to aspire for

Family is who often have to listen to you

And includes those who will hear you

Family is who you have cried over

And includes those who will never say, “It’s over”

Family is who we run from, even if we need them

And includes those we run to, even if we don’t need them

Family is who you are born with

And includes those you would choose to die with

Family is what we define

And includes what we decide is divine.
