Sounds Changed
Cries for freedom, to fraudulent whispers.
Ululations of unity, to lazy laughter.
Gunshots of hate, to giggles in a dagga haze.
Crying for fresh water, to drunk on booze.
Festive townships to filthy flats.
From funfilled soccer fields,
To insults behind barracades.
Soweto 1976 to suburbia 2006.
