I wrote you a letter
Telling you all the things I know to be true
Like you are beautiful, strong, unique
Stubborn, selfish, intolerable
But I love you
You are the ying to my yang
The missing piece to my puzzle
I know we are old history
And I know
He hurt you
But when that dress he gave you
Starts to fade and tear at the seams
My words will still be there
When all those texts are no longer
On your phones history
When those phone calls are no more
Than a distant memory
My words will be there
When your hope finally dies
When he boards that plane
And his decision is made final
My words will still be there
No matter how hard you try
Scribble over them, white them out,
Tear the letter up
My words will still be there
Put the letter up to the light
And you will see my words
Under the scribble and beneath the white out
Piece the torn letter together
And what you will find
Is my words
Try to buy a pen eraser
But all it does is merely fade
My words are still legible
Still there
Burn it, but the carbon dating
Will only tell you
That my words were there
My words are still there
