"My Desire"

Poetry By: wballard23

This is a poem I wrote one night at the hour where sleep was at arrest. I has some sadness in it but there is some joy in the meat.

"My Desire"

You are my desire,
you take me higher,
In my heart a burning fire,
the spirit of lies has left this liar,
I can see all that I admire,
if only you would pick up the other end of this telephone wire,
There you stand in my heart, as you pierce it and watch it bleed you can see I'm falling apart,
stuck in a corner being struck at with darts,
each one pricking more and more than the other,
Its a pain that can not even be healed by the compassion of ones mother,
or the fighting strength of ones father,
I once was told to refrain from pain,
but if love is pain as it says in "Macbeth" not to refrain from love but to make love known,
but how can a man my age stand hard as stone,
and never leave his comfort zone,
every word that burns at the tip of my mouth is refrained from leaving my dome,
every day it builds inside and I can't beat it out of me,
the child is in me with arms wide open as the sea,
full of compassion must be hidden deep beyond my holy creed,
and threw the pain it bleeds,
like a heart being pierced with a knife from top to bottom with no known understanding needs...
