PARTS OF WHO I AM
Its little shows of affection that bears affectionate fruits.
A smile, a hug, a kiss goodnight,
Loving eyes watching as I play.
These are parts of what makes me who I am today.
Its little shows of appreciations that bear appreciative fruits,
A “please,” a “thank you’ and a “good work son.”
A tap on the back and a proud smile on your face.
These are parts of what makes me who I am today.
It is little shows of sadness and hate that bear bad fruits,
The death, the excessive drinking, the drug abuse,
The beating that became a daily routine.
These are parts of what makes me who I am today.
It’s the little things we encounter throughout our lives,
All the love and hate mixed up together,
That makes us who we are today.
We choose which path to follow.
And which choices to dwell on.
I am not always proud of what I am,
But there are times when am grateful for the little things.
But one thing is for sure,
I will not let my yesterdays control my tomorrows.
For I finally know who I am today.
