(Penelope, a young girl, was looking at her distressed mother who sat by the dinner table, staring down at the cold coffee.)
Pen: Mom? Is something the matter?
(Pen's mother, Syrene, looked up)
Syrene: Oh, honey....It's nothing...
Pen: Mom,I know there's something wrong...I can feel it. Did you have another fight with dad?
Syrene: No, honey...we didn't fight. Me---and your dad---decided to end everything between us.
Pen: You what!? Mom, how can you do this? I thought you love him!
Syrene:I do, honey, I really do. It's just that...if we continue our relationship, I fear everything will fall.
Pen: You don't have that much faith in dad after all. Mom, how can you do this?
Syrene: Honey, it was our decision...your dad doesn't want to break it to you and I was thinking of how to say it...in a nice way...but..
(Pen started crying, Syrene tried to approach her but her daughter shove her away.)
Pen: Then why did you start having a relationship with dad if you'll end it up like this?! Now I know why my half-sister hates you. You did the same to her father didn't you?
Syrene: No honey. Listen. It was her dad's own decision to leave me without even talking to me about it. He just suddenly left and I broke down..
Pen: Enough of your lies!
